Acción contra el Hambre works closely with the European Social Fund+ (ESF+), as well as with other social entities and European organizations, to foster social innovation and promote inclusion

The synergies among European organizations and social entities are the foundation of social innovation with a community-oriented, inclusive, and equitable approach. At Acción contra el Hambre, we firmly believe that to positively impact the most vulnerable groups, we must collaborate with other entities, both nationally and at the European level, in an innovative manner while always keeping our focus on people.

Our strategic partnership with the European Social Fund+ (ESF+) represents one of our fundamental pillars in promoting and driving employment and entrepreneurship support programs that are crucial for transforming the lives of many individuals.

Our speakers will introduce you to the work of the ESF+ and other initiatives aimed at boosting social innovation at the 12th Forum on Inclusive Employment and Entrepreneurship, taking place on October 24th.

The European Social Fund+

With a budget of €142.7 billion allocated for the period 2021-2027, the ESF+ emerges from the merger of several previous funds to maximize its impact. This new approach integrates four prior funds, allowing hundreds of European organizations to access its financing.

For Acción contra el Hambre, the ESF+ represents a powerful ally aimed at enhancing the employability of vulnerable groups and fostering their social and labor inclusion, addressing the challenges of the labor market, education, and training. This goal aligns perfectly with the mission of our organization in Spain, enabling us to reach over 38,500 individuals over the past 10 years.

Social Innovation as a pillar of change

The European Network of Innovation for Inclusion is one of Acción contra el Hambre's initiatives that will be funded by the ESF+ in the coming years, which will enhance its work in social innovation through European support. Thus, in line with the Network's annual activities during its European events, the upcoming 12th Forum on Inclusive Employment and Entrepreneurship will explore how social innovation serves as a driving force for groups at risk of exclusion towards new opportunities.

In addition to specialists discussing community-oriented approaches to social innovation, artificial intelligence for inclusion, and scaling innovative projects, the event will feature representatives from Acción contra el Hambre:

  • Olivier Longué, General Director of Acción contra el Hambre
  • Luis González Muñoz, Director of Technical Engineering and Social Action in Spain, Acción contra el Hambre

During the opening session, both will share experiences from the organization regarding innovative projects aimed at implementing social protection models. One of these is the #StopMalnutrition project, which addresses child malnutrition and its impact on health, focusing on reducing health inequalities faced by families at risk of exclusion. By adopting a social innovation approach, the project aims to create a nutrition-sensitive protection system built on a co-creation methodology among key stakeholders, ensuring the prominence of health and social services.

Another innovative project is IAcción: Connected Pathways for Labor Insertion, which aims to enhance the employability of individuals at risk of exclusion by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the social and labor insertion process.

A space for collaboration and learning

Thus, the 12th Forum on Inclusive Employment and Entrepreneurship will not only be a space for exchanging ideas but also a platform for change. This year, the event will focus on learning and collaboration among social organizations, emphasizing the importance of collective methodologies in generating effective social innovation.

The European Social Fund+ offers tools to build a fairer and more equitable future, and the 12th Forum on Inclusive Employment and Entrepreneurship represents a unique opportunity to be part of this transformative change.

We invite you to join us at this event, where you can contribute to the social innovation that will make a difference in the lives of many individuals.
